Difference between Desires and Intentions
Desire and intentions are closely similar and yet the results could be vastly
separated. All of us have desires and intentions and we often linked them as one. There is a thin line between
desires and intentions and the difference is the core of our attitude towards achievement and success.
So what is desires and intentions?
Definitions:
Desires
-the feeling that accompanies an
unsatisfied state feel or have a desire for; want strongly; "I want to go home now"; "I want my own
room" hope: expect and wish; an
inclination to want things; "a man of many desires"
Intentions- A course of action that one intends to follow,
An aim that guides action; an objective,
An anticipated outcome that is intended or
that guides your planned actions.
I would analyse desire and intentions the
following way:
Desires are what you would like to have, it is
usually form from a feeling of dissatisfaction and envy. Desires focuses on what we want ,which might not be
what we need. Most importantly, desires are like empty promises you have made to yourself. It have no form
and does not encourage any course of action.
Intentions identify what you want and what you
need, it commits you to action. When you set your intentions, it give you an objective. You become task
oriented, focus on achieving your goal. It is important to acknowledge your intention, especially if it is
good. In acknowledging your intentions, you will not falter at whatever ptifall, obstacles and hurdles you
faced along the way.
Good intention give you a peace of mind and it
give you positve thoughts. In the theory of Law of Attraction, your thoughts and behaviour attracts the kind
of people you meet. Therefore, have good intentions, good positive thoughts and you will surely attract
people who would think like you and would appreciate what you are doing.
Remember,
desires are empty promises you made to yourself. Intentions made you focus, a good intention keep you strong
in the face of adversity and help you achieve your goals.
